Zinn -v- Big Blue Book

I recently picked up another frame which I intend to build up myself. I can do most stuff on a car so a bike should be manageable.

On a car I learn as I go along but quite like the Haynes book of lies to keep me right. :?

I'm quite a visual person so prefer diagrams/pics to text, my choice seems to have come down to the Park Big Blue Book or the Zinn Bike Maintenance Book.

Is one generally regarded as better than the other, or is it just personal preference...?

Neither - online videos plus forum support if you get into difficulties are loads better than books IME - actions are worth a thousand pictures!

I've got Zinn and it's great - but videos are probably my first stop (plus the park tools website).

Saying that, Zinn provides a great background of different technologies and some specific tips that videos might miss.

Visit the Workshop section Colin it's very very different over there - it's almost like your not talking on the internet anymore people are so helpful and tolerant of beginners.

Depends what frame you bought ;-)
I would have thought the big blue book is what's on the Park Tools website, just that it doesn't get updated.
