When did this happen and why am I not informed?

Source for the question - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-27325363

And a snippet -
"But he ruled that Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt's duty to promote a comprehensive health service in England "is a duty in relation to the physical and mental health of the people of England", and that duty did not extend "to persons who are ordinarily resident in Northern Ireland"."

So. No comprehensive NHS within the UK?

I am supposing that no one is finding that ruling surprising or alarming?

What is happening to this so called United Kingdom?

    Oh well, moving on......

Not an expert on devolved powers, but are health matters not devolved to the Assembly.

I could be wrong but that has never stopped me posting on here before.

    True.
But if residents of N.I. cannot get NHS treatment in England then it must work vice versa.
And the same situation must apply to Wales and Scotland.

I too may be wrong but this report worries me.

"Each country’s healthcare system is slightly different. Therefore, your EHIC might not cover everything that would be free on the NHS. However, you should be able to get the same treatment as a resident of the country you're visiting."

So a N.I. resident visiting England should get the same treatment as an English resident. And vice versa.

Rightly or wrongly where you live in the UK does make a difference to what you are entitled to. Prescriptions being an obvious one.

    Fair point.

But paying a few pound for medicine does not compare to paying for treatment.

That said, there is a postcode lottery for cancer treatment so the whole system is a mess, that is a fact.

Yes the whole system is a mess. The NHS is not a National Health Service, and I have no idea what "country" we actually live in any more - England? Britain? UK? Or in the case of teh HNS I live in the GU2 postcode

Can anyone tell me where this thread originated from and why it's in BB?

I mean, there are no noorks, dissent, disagreements or any slagging each other off.

There are a few threads on Scottish independence and you fellows appeared to know what you were talking about.
    I was obviously mistaken.
