maxxis crossmark v conti x-king

I started another thread about my rear tyre dilemma, but didn't really get the answer I was after. After doing a fair bit of reading on line I'm pretty sure I'm about to buy a conti x-king 2.2 (not sure if I'm going to get the pro-tection version or not) to replace the maxxis crossmark on the back.
Does anyone have experience of both tyres to give a comparison? My understanding from my research is that the x-king will be slightly less fast rolling (but still fast) but will be a bit more grippy in damp/wet/muddy conditions and will clear mud faster too. Clearly its not going to be a mud tyre but it will be a little more all round than the crossmark. Can anyone corroborate this with real experiance?
Thanks in advance 8)
