If anyone wants to take a look I have created a website with a fully written up daily journal from my recent LeJog and with some other write ups(and a few more to come) Will hopefully use the site for future fundraising and to help others who are looking to do a similar ride.....These blogs were invaluable to me during my planning. Be great to get some traffic through the site and I will be blogging on there as much as possible in the future.

The ride was to raise money in memory of my friend Dave who passed away 10 years ago and almost £5k has now been raised

Well done. LEL next, I guess?

I've got to ask though... what were the circumstances of the bleeding bum? What type of saddle have you got? Did you use that Chamoix stuff? How far in to your trip did you start to suffer with the sores? That's frickin' hard that is.
  • Had my saddle on for over a year and was well used to it and my bib shorts. I had plenty of chamois on and had never suffered from sores before. Basically I had almost graze like friction burns along my sit bones develop over the first week. The road from Carlisle to Abington was horrendous - it literally shook me to bits and the sores kind of opened up! I also had a couple if cysts develop and burst! It was not very pleasant but was manageable with regular cleaning, antibacterial cream and chamois creme ..... There is a vid on my blog of that bit of road which will give you an idea of why I had problems.

  • This is one of the reasons why I ride a tourer with 26" wheels and 2" tyres. Sheer comfort even on bad road surfaces.

    Well done for finishing LeJog!!!
