Been out of MTB for a few years. Digging out my old ride I find I could probably do with some new brakes as the old Formula Oro K24's are showing signs of a bit of corrosion.

Whats the brake of choice these days for XC/Trail type use (they're going on a Titus Motolite) is it the Shimano SLX/XT ?

I went from Avid Elixir 1's to XT brakes with new rotors, and they had more power and felt better as well. My wife's bike has SLX which work well as well. Although mine were reliable the quality of the avid's seems a bit hit and miss.

I recently replaced some pretty old Oro K24s with Hope Race Evo X2s. Less weight, more power and fully rebuildable by my LBS. I'd played with some new SLX too, but preferred the feel of the Hopes and my LBS gave me an excellent deal on them.

Are these the race ones either way how come you chose them either over the race versions or instead of.

    Thnx
