Im a carpet fitter, a couple of weeks ago we delivered to carpets to a bungalow (looked expensive) we were asked to put the carpets into there garage and on the wall hung up was this fixie, the young lad I have working with me was looking at this fixie lovingly (he rides fixies and nothing else), apparently it was the chaps fathers bike that he used it to race, anyway long story short twas bought for 300 quid. and we know very little about the bike, other than the Italian its named after (who died not too long ago). its a Reynolds 531 frame ... ive taken some photos and wondered if any of you knew a bit about why we've a 531 frame in this chaps name.

He rode a Bianchi tandem with Renato Perona in 1948 at the London Olympics and they won a gold medal.
The crank has the post 1983 shield version of the campagnolo logo.
(Just need to find the back half of that bike now )my isetta is a 300cc bike0 -
Hi,
Did a bit of googling on the name and found a Ferdinando Teruzzi, was quite a well known track rider in the 40"s
He seems to be best known for winning the gold for Tandem Sprint at the1948 London Olympics but was also a good 6 day rider. Obviously with that name he was Italian, born in1924 he died in Italy on April 9th this year aged 90.
If you Google his full name you'll get a few hits but most are Italian sites and the translations don't come out to well.
Hope that's some use.
Steve
PS The bikes a beauty, keep it as is!!0 -
Hi thx for the help , we had to take a full set of mudguards off inc two sets of lights, but hes not going to change a thing. looks great as it is, were you able to speak to Reynolds in them days and get a frame made with your name on it?
I wonder0 -
Normally used to seeing all the trendy n@bheads tooling around town on 'fixies' (please.....we're British......it's 'fixed' or 'fixed wheel') these days with dayglow wheels and other w@nky wot not ........but this is really nice. £300 well spent Sir!0
