edited May 2014 in Road buying advice
LBS offered me a good deal on a new Scott Addict £2200 down to £1500.

Anyone ride one? This is my first road bike, geometry seems quite aggressive but not overly so. Looking for something for fairly quick evening rides and a little longer at weekends. No plans to race at the moment.

Spec is a mix of Ultegra and 105, nice and light sat 7.8kg and RS11 wheels. It was more than I was looking to spend but don't want to miss if it is a good buy.

Rode the addict 10 the other day, loved it all except the graphics, so personal. Handled great for the hour I spent around Liverpool on it

I was thinking about it but for north of £2k you should get better than a Tiagra cassette

It's an 8 quid difference between Tiagra and 105 with no functional difference. They specced Tiagra on this model to get a wider ratio. Canyon specs mountain bike cassettes to achieve the same result.

Having put 30k miles on a couple of addicts in the last three years. Amazing bikes you wont be disapointed.

Buy the Addict. They look great, and they are very good frames. At that price it sounds like a steal...if it fits properly. Make sure it does, especially if your first bike.

I might need a bit of convincing on the frame. There's a lot of cheaper, lighter bikes on the market these days that have full ultegra and better wheels for under £2k.

Its a 58 (XL), I am 6"2, I think they do an XXL (61) but I think that might be too large, defeats the purpose of a faster more aggressive position if the frame is too big. Shop do a fit with all bikes as well anyway.

Frame and fork are 890/360g which is damn light for the money, especially when you consider a semi aero profile. Sure the SuperSix Evo is lighter, but they've done away with internal cable routing which is a big step down in my eyes.

The Dogma is a pig by comparison but people seem to have no problem spending three times as much on them. Weight isn't everything...
