Hi I have old miche campag 8 speed 116BCD cranks on my bike atm

Atm they are fine any but teeth are getting slighlty worn on both chainrings & I suppose eventually after a few yrs they will need both rings replacing.

Iv'e already replaced rings before & the chainrings are rare especially the 39t ones so are £30 each.

Was thinking just buying this instead & keeping it as a spare as 130 bcd rings are more common

Would I notice any difference with the shorter 170mm crank arm size compared to a 172.5mm one it is atm?

Im 5 10" tall.

    Check out Spa Cycles:-

You can buy some new cranks (172.5 if you want that size and square taper) for £20

These are 110BCD so there are limitations on the chainring sizes but you could get a 52 and a 40 or 38 which won't be that much different from your current set up:-

The Shimano 105 on ebay would be fine, it uses a square taper BB and you'll be able to get them forever. I would avoid the Sugino on CRC; it uses a Shimano Octalink (not sure if it's Mk1 or Mk2, which used longer splines).

You can still get these, but there's not much choice as Shimano kept the manufacturing rights to themselves, ie there are no aftermarket ones. Originally there were 105, Ultegra and Dura Ace versions, but the only new ones available now are 105 (this is for Mk1, I'm less familiar with Mk2 versions).

Stronglight is always a good option for square taper chainsets with smaller BCD.

You won't notice any difference between 170 and 172.5 cranks.
