Water in my tyres

Today I noticed that my rear tyre was not seated properly. There was a bulge near the valve. I deflated the tyre, fiddled around a bit and then reinflated. Still there.
So, I deflated again and took the tyre off. I was surprised to find a couple of thimblefulls of water sitting between the tyre and the tube. The water wasn't the cause of the bulge, but I haven't seen that before.
Is this a common occurrence?

Yes are your rims are not water proof."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Better check the front wheel as well then.0

You'll get some in there every time you wash it or ride in the wet, completely normal and nothing to worry about0

If you have Mavic Cosmic Carbones then after a wet ride expect a glass full rather than a thimbleful.0

I have these wheels and can contest to that. Even hosing the bike down when cleaning can result in them filling. One of my routes takes we through a ford and sometimes after this you can here the water sloshIng around inside the wheels.0 -
Checked the front. Only a few drops.
So where does it get in? Spokes, valve or just between the tyre and rim?0 -
Also, in very wet weather I have filled part of the frame.
As I was hanging the bike up I noticed water coming out of what looks like a drain hole in the chain stay. Good size puddle on the garage floor after I stood the bike up vertically.

Some deep rims have little drainage holes to let the rain out.
I cant say I've noticed it in conventional rims though.0 -

One of my bikes has Shimano RS10s on it, they have drainage holes each side above the brake track and by the amount of water that comes out after a wet ride, they're needed.0 -
Yep, my ultegra wheels have the drain holes too0

But I'd guess the drainage holes themselves are responsible for most of the water.0 -
LOL. They're certainly the biggest holes so you're probably right! No problem either way.0

If you run out of water in your bidons on a ride at least you'll know where you can imbibe a few more drops..0

So, is the water in the tyres or the rims?I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0
