Good morning one and all,

My name's Dan and I started out road riding back in 2012 and have loved it since, but in recent months I've felt an urge to go off the black stuff and do a bit of exploring. Recent forays on uneven terrain have showed the limitations of my road bike and I've since set myself a budget of £600 to buy a decent hardtail. After much deliberation, I've settled on a Voodoo Bizango, unless anything else crops up in the meantime. Impressive spec, brilliant reviews, MBR's hardtail of the year twice I believe and a competitive price settled it. I've looked at buying second hand, but seemingly there aren't too many large framed bikes in my price bracket being sold. In theory, once I'm back in Canterbury and have my finances in order, I'll be picking the 29er up and joining your world of off road cycling. Hopefully you'll be seeing plenty more of me on here in the future.

You have made a good choice for the bike , all you need to do now is buy the non lycra cycling gear ;)

You have made an even better choice of bike type (MTB), the Bizango is a real deal as well.

How large are you that you think you need a large? Unlike road bikes mtb's will usually be a smaller frame measurement to get the right fit, unless you are over 6'1" I would expect a medium to be a better fit than a large.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

I'd have a look at the boardman comp also before making a solid choice with certain discounts you can get it for 525 ish just food for thought

Thanks for the welcome folks! Don't worry, I'm a fully paid up member of the baggy shorts brigade

I'm 6' 1" and some change. I rode the Bizango a few weeks ago and the large frame felt a good fit to me.

As for the Boardman; that was my first choice when I was looking for a hardtail. I went and tried one out a little as soon as I'd got my eye in, but it didn't feel as polished as I'd hoped. The X5 felt a little clunky and the forks felt like they were lacking something. Don't get me wrong, it's a tremendous bike. It's just the Voodoo feels a lot nicer to be on and to ride, smoother and more complete somehow. How is it that one can get this sizeable discount though? It's definitely a matter for consideration, as that change could go a little way towards some upgrades.

Also, the Bizango isn't white...

You can get 10% off with http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership.
So a saving of £40 on a £600 bike if you get the £20 Bronze membership.
Use Quidco for an extra 3% off.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

You could also get an extra 10% by buying vouchers on Line but I ignored that that and just asked if they would do the same price off in cash in all I got 10% off with bike membership then 10% off the remaining amount then they also gave me £60 credit to extras so I paid £1295 for a £1599 bike plus the £60 to buy extras
