My maxle keeps coming loose, is it fubar or can I service it?

Basically, if I use the allen key adjuster to tighten the QR, is closes as expected and is nice and stiff.

But by the end of a ride, its floppy again and could easily open up while riding.

All the qr does is tighten the bungs right? Just make sure they are bunging and tight?
  • Basically, close the lever and its tight (not difficult to close, but needs a bit of force), then after a ride it is loose/rattly. I can literally just flick the lever open with my little finger and the maxle can unwind itself.

I think its the allen key tension screw thats worn, I'm wondering if it is slipping due to trail chatter which is causing the "bung" to come loose.

Just worried that there is nothing stopping the maxle unwinding.
  • anyone know if a maxle can be stripped before I buy a new one?
  • Possibly serviceable see. Page 104 ( refer to rear maxle light )click linking pdf download of service parts at base of page.

    Loctite the bolt maybe
  • After taking it apart as much as I can, its not the bolt its the ratchet built into the bolt as the edges have worn.

Have cleaned it and tightened it, will see if it lasts tonight!
