Hello All, Happy Sunday!

Was thinking of planning a trip to Mallorca for some cycling for a week. Can anyone give advise on the best places to go, quite like to get climbing. I see flights are dead cheap, just basically need a bike box and somewhere to stay. This isn't just a question I am asking without reading up. I am giving it some reading as well, just wondered if anyone on here has done it and could suggest anything decent on a budget.

Best go arrange myself or go on a planned holiday?...

Thanks in advance
WK

Don't want to rub it, but..........

Currently in the Hotel Daina in Puerto Pollensa having arrived yesterday. Had a funny afternoon yesterday whilst waiting for the hire place to reopen so we could collect our bikes. "I know" I said, "we'll go to Tolos Restaurant for a cafe con leche, it's Bradley Wiggins' favourite place apparently". So, there we were, the four of us sitting drinking our cafe con leche watching the world go by when I see someone I recognise. Non other than Sir Brad, Kath and their kids walking right past us, out of the restaurant.........

I'll be looking out for him on today's ride

Club pollenca (between Porto pollenca and alcudia) Is set up brilliantly for cycling trips and depending on when you go and how far in advance you book.

In terms of routes, then you have anything from a nice short hilly loops, all days climbing epics to port soller and then some flatter rides through the centre of the island to some of the stunning hilltop monasteries (San Salvador in particular, but also Randa too).

Frankly there is something for everyone, feel free to have a look at some of the routes on strava if that helps: http://www.strava.com/athletes/202897

we paid £160 weeks self catering inc flights from Manchester, staying in Alcudia. Great location for the hills.

Lots of places for bike hire in the area.

You can't go wrong with that section of coast Puerto Polensa, Alucudia, Playa De Muro & Can Picafort. Other than the usual mountain rides try some monastery bagging in the middle/south of the island. San Salvador (best view from a toilet ever), Randa, Cura and many others. Most have cafe on top for well deserved cup of coffee.

Try Max Hurzeler if you want to hire a bike, for a week better value and less hassle that taking your own.
