I looked on chain recation and they got a alvio mech for 21 pound so ill get that then but witch shifters ??0

there is also a sram x4 and shifters I can buy for 30 in total but witch would be better0

Can't comment on the x4 but I run an alivio on my 8 speed commuter and I am very happy with it.0

Personally I would go for budget Shimano over Sram any day.I don't do smileys.

Yep agree with cool dad I have broken sooo many x4 shifters, the shimano equivalent last a long time:D0

I have Alivio in both 7 speed and 9 speed on two different bikes.
I ran the 7 speed variant commuting in all weathers and riding all types of terrain for about three years, no problems.I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0
