Ultegra 6700 Shredded Lock Bolt removal

Hi
I was gifted a pair of 6700 pedals and 1 of the lock bolts cannot be removed as it just keeps spinning (the thread has obviously gone).If I could remove it the axle will be replaced.Any ideas on the removal of the axle would be appreciated.If not it's in the bin.

    Perhaps I'm being stupid but what's a lock bolt?

    Looking at the doc I'd try gripping it with some mole grips, mounting the pedal in a vice or workbench and then tapping the mole grips to work it out. Bit ugly though.
