Shimano hub gear newbie question

As you supposed to keep peddling or coast when you change gears on these or does it not matter? Can I change gears when stationary? Shimano Nexus 3speed hub. Many thanks!

    Keep pedalling or coast, but if you keep pedalling ease off the torque to smooth the shift.

    Yes you can change gear stationary, one of the main advantages of hub gears.
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
