Best Road Bike for Around £1000

Hi guys,
Big Bike Radar fan but first time poster.
I had my Specialized Allez Sport stolen on me last night. Absolutely gutted as I loved that bike.
I had it insured and I am in the process of claiming. I was thinking of getting a new bike anyway and had my eyes set on the Boardman Team Carbon. However my insurance company deal with a company called Wheelies (http://www.wheelies.co.uk/) and they don't carry the Boardman brand as Halfords do it. I have a budget of around £1000 and I am torn between a few models. Was thinking about either the Specialized Allez Elite, The Giant Defy Composite 3, Merida Ride Alloy 94 Team 2014, Bianchi C2C Via Nirone Alu Tiagra 2014 and the Giant Defy 1 2014.

I'm not the most knowledgeable in this area and would appreciate your feedback.
I cycle around 100 miles a week commuting and travelling to my sport activities and then do a few 50 miles cycles to keep fit. I am getting into more sportives and I'm doing the 100mile Surrey Cycle (Surrey 100).

Many thanks for your patience.

You will not beat this bike for value for money with a fantastic groupset.

I had a similar situation a couple of years ago. There are reports of people getting cash out of their insurers rather than using wheelies, I guess it depends how hard you're prepared to argue.

Be aware that you won't get any of the discounts on wheelies' main site, it's likely to be list price only.

If you go over your budget they'll give you a discount on the overspend (20%?)

If you loved the allez I'd be tempted, in your position, by a caad8 or a giant TCR composite. Check the defy - the geometry might be too upright for you. The genesis equilibrium bikes always look good to my eye.

Check on delivery times with Wheelies before setting your heart on a specific bike as they can be long.
If you cash settle they'll deduct 25% but it could be worth it to give you the freedom to get what you really want/a better deal elsewhere.

As I said, they don't (or at least didn't for me) offer discounts. Although they use the wheelies stock, you need to use this site

http://www.bikereplacement.co.uk for your browsing, not wheelies retail site.

Bought one of these from LBS after months of deliberation, groupset not so good as some but if i didnt go carbon think i would regret it later and i can pick up 105 shifters cheap enough in the future because i dont like the cables coming from the tiagra hoods.
