After going from mountain biking to road biking. i want to build up a new mountain bike. i used to have a spes enduro, and before that a kona stab. but debating whether to to 29er hard tail. i only plan to do XC so no major jumps or drop offs.
But what would you recommend? hardtail or full sus.
i like the spes stunt jumper.

prob max of £1600 maybe able to stretch to £1800
but i am looking to build, would just be looking at the frame which prob a about 500-600 ish?

Frame only full sussers aren't worth it. I'd look at a fully built Giant Anthem, exceptional value.

The Titus frame only are the only ones that make any financial sense, but for your suggested usage I'd go 29er HT, maybe an on-one Lurcher frame http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FROOLUR29/o ... 29er-frame

Me and my mate both ride Anthems. Can't rate them high enough for XC and trail riding.

Alternatively you could buy from canyon you will get incredible spec for that money.

At that budget a hardtail will be a good chunk lighter if you're not going to be riding anything too 'serious'.

Having come from a lightweight 26" FS bike to a very slightly lighter (c0.7lbs) 29er hardtail I'd get a hardtail, and Canyon are a good shout and I'd be seriously considering one of these. At your budget the weight difference will be far bigger to FS, and if you look at 29er FS bigger again.

There are lower specced ones too which may be more in budget, same frame.
