Absorbent Work Mat/Dust sheet for working on bike?

Anyone got any suggestions or recommendations for some kind of sheet/mat I can put down when working on my bike to soak up any dropped oil?

Managed to transfer some old chain gunk from my chain onto the patio, then onto my shoes, then onto the carpet...

    Old or off cut carpet? Alternatively try the charity shops for blankets or curtains - these are also handy for covering the bike in the garage (if you have windows) or in the car.

    I just use an old shower curtain, wipe it off, fold and store till needed. Painters plastic tarps are another good and cheap option.
