Hi all im a newbie to bikeradar and quite new to the biking world , I currently own a merida race lite and am looking into getting a hard tail , ive been looking around at bikes and come across a brand ive not heard of , its called bergamont , apparently according to the only bike shop that ive found that knows of them they are a big company in germany . Has anyone else heard of them ? Thanks in advance for your help . Shane

Thanks nicklouse . So would it be a good idea to consider one when choosing a bike ? The one in question that ive come across is the metric 4.4 @ £599 . Others I am possibly interested in are the merida big 9 @ £649 and the saracen mantra @ £599 . What one of these are best value for the money spec wise ? Thanks again0

Bergamont are quite big in India as it happens (I travel to India a lot on business - too much), had a look at a few in the shops, reasonably specced and priced but the frames are very much 'Euro XC' in style.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Thanks rookie . Maybe a silly question but what the difference in the euro xc style ?0

Rather traditional slightly longer TT/stem so more stretched out and a low front end with narrow bars, nothing a shorter stem and different bars wouldn't change (if change was indeed wanted), I have ridden one as a hire bike (on what pass for roads out here) and it rode very nicely, quite light and nimble feeling. Much better than some of the other hire bikes I've ridden. Don't ask the model though I can't remember!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
