Sapim CX-ray twisting

I spoke to my lbs about a wheel rebuild and they suggested that Sapim CX ray spokes may twist once the tension is released, so they resemble wrought iron gate railings. I hadn't heard this before so I am wondering what the likelihood is so I know how big a bill this wheel rebuild will be if I need to replace spokes as well as rims.

Any experience of this out there?

    It is very likely if the nipple seizes, which is very likely if it is alloy. Pretty much all the CX Ray I have been asked to have a look at were seized and they twist at the round-bladed interface just as your shop suggests, no matters which aero holder you use... so... :roll:

    Cheers for the confirmation, that's a bit of a bummer at £2 a pop!

    Use brass nipples....
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Secondhand wheels so it wasn't a major thought when I bought them. And it is hard to know looking at them so hopefully they are brass.
