Is this how the carbon frame starts to fail?

I've been cleaning my Principia Revolution C40T bike recently and have noticed this:

and

I'm quite a newbie here, so please don't judge is the question is "funny" :) Lacquer seems to be a bit rough on that places. This might have happened over a long time as i haven't actually looked that close to it before the reason i was looking at that spot was that my BB has developed a sound when standing and climbing hard :) Can someone with experience please comment on this? Should i get worried or this is just the affect of the sun on this? And yes, bike is 2005 model and I'm kind a "bike for life" guy so it has seen a lot of beating yet all those line in the picture are only scratches from A LOT of years of cleaning :) Any help would be much appreciated :)

I think the way the Carbon Fibre is checked is by x-ray. If it's worth it, there are plenty of repairers out there who will do the job.
    The noise could be anything:

    ..or you could be right.

It's a cosmetic problem with the lacquer, nothing to do with the structural integrity of the carbon IMO. Unless the frame has taken an impact or there is a physical sign of damage like a crack or delamination then I'd carry on riding it. The BB noise is more likely due to worn/loose bearings. I have older carbon frames that have taken a far worse beating.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Not sure, but the vertical line showing in the worn lacquer seems to have a match on the other leg. This could be the overlapping join between the monocoque molding and the tube. I'd keep an eye on it for now.

Thanks! I will will try to find a shop which could restore the frame to its former glory after this season :)
