8 speed to 10 speed

I've got some old wheels that I want to use as a second set, they are Sun Single Track from 2005, pretty hefty but nice and strong. The hub attached is a Deore 8/9sp so can be rebuilt easily enough. I am planning to run a Shimano Zee 10sp set-up. I have an XT 10sp cassette but want to know if this will just work with the 8/9sp Deore hub? I was under the impression the new 10sp cassettes were the same width and should line up just fine but wanted to check this before just getting on with it.
