I have £500 to spend on a mountain bike and not sure what to go for, i would preferably like a hardtail. i am 15 and about 6ft. so far i have thought about the saracen mantra 2014 (http://www.bikereplacement.co.uk/p67450 ... -Bike.aspx) and the ktm chicago h disc (http://www.bikereplacement.co.uk/p68589 ... -Bike.aspx) any replies would be grateful Cheers.

There arebloads of recent threads on this but my choice for 400 was to build my own from 2nd hand bits. Nearly finished collecting them and I've priced up the components if new from chainreactioncycles, it would be over 1300 off the shelf, 1 year on, I'm close to 400 for it all.
Full xt m875 groupset, formula the one fr brakes on 203mm rotors and Goodrich braided hoses, mavic 721s on hope pro 2s etc.0 -
Both of those are terrible. This one is a LOT better than either of them

Can you get a cash payout? You'll get a better bike elsewhere.0 -
No sadly i just need to know wat the best one on the site is because its my only option0
-
I would push them for a cash payout. At worst you should get a bit less than £500 but can buy a much better bike like the calibre two.two, decathlon rockrider or from halfords the voodoo bizango if you add a bit more money.
The bikes on the website are not good value for money. Also second hand if you are careful can get you a bike worth nearer £1,000 for your budget with a bit of looking around.0 -
Look for other manufacturers they don't always have everything on their site, as the owner has another shop in the area.0

This one at wheelies is much better for the money http://www.bikereplacement.co.uk/p56859 ... -Bike.aspx this isn't too bad, though not as good as the aspect http://www.bikereplacement.co.uk/p54245 ... -Bike.aspxCurrently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
