Hi, I am keen to get into biking after a long absence and am looking to spend around £600 - £700 on a new bike to be used mainly for casual cycling in the woods. A local shop recommended for the money the Silverback Sola 4 for £639 - http://www.silverbacklab.com/upload/201 ... la4_14.htm
Does anyone have any experience with this bike? There doesn't seem to be much information about it on the internet. Are there better alternatives for the price?
Thanks

    Maybe this:http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_991946_langId_-1_categoryId_165499

Or decathlon rockrider 8.1 which is under budget but has a spec sheet to rival them both.

Go outdoors have just brought out a range too they would be worth a look.
  • Thanks for the quick reply.

If the Rockrider is a better value bike with the same specs then I will go for that one and save some money. My only concern is my local Decathlon store is miles from where I live and wont the bike need to go back after a few months for a bedding in check up or is that something I can do myself?
Also does anyone know if Decathlon will set the bike up for me when going to pick it up?
Is it a good idea to change any elements of the bike i.e. seat or peddles?

I think it comes with SPD peddles so you may want flats instead. Probably better online deals for those. No idea about seat. I've got a 9.1 and keep thinking I'll change the seat but have got round to it yet. I'll probably go for a charge spoon and work from there.

They will set up the bike for you. You don't have to take it back it back to them but they offer great warranty and aftercare service.
