5703 Triple shifter to work with double chainset?

Anybody know if a 5703 triple LH shifter can be used with a double / compact chainset & FD?

I have the 5703 currently set up on a triple chainset but ish to change to a compact without changing shifters if I can help it. Was hoping I can replace my FD to a double and adjust the stops accordingly?

I use a sora triple to shift a double set up with no problems , so you should be fine.

I had a 4603 shifter on my R700 compact for the life of the bike and still have the set up on the new frame. Works brilliantly.

You want what would be the downshift to the inner ring of the triple to be the redundant one; then you're only releasing tension. Do it the other way and you'll be trying to snap your cables.
