gear adjusting

I know this black art of being a good bike mechanic but I've had a new set of cables put on bike by a bike shop ( shorter rochford) they did a awesome job and really impressed.
Problem is now is that gears aren't as crisp as they were, not bad but very much prefer how they were.
Question is, cables have clearly slacked can I use cable adjusters on the underside of frame to counter this? If so what way do I turn them to tighten shifting? ( noob with this area)
Thanks

Here's some how-to videos. Once you understand the workings of the rear mech it's very easy. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... adjustment In your case determine if the shifting hesitates going from small to large (as you mentioned the cable looks loose) then you need to tighten the cable by turning the adjuster outward. Reverse if it hesitates from large to small. Sometimes just an 1/8 turn is enough to be spot on or slightly off.0
