Snapped bolt on 160mm rota

Hello guys and girls,

whilst stripping a wheel down I managed to snap a rotor bolt.

I used WD40 as it was badly rusted but no dice, does anyone have any tips on how to get it out? Can it be drilled without ruining the thread?

The hub is a 5 bolt, will it be fine running it with 4 bolts? and as there a spare set I'd rather try get away without changing the hub.

Any tips/advice would be great!

Cheers

  • If you have easy out kit you could drill it that way ... Or reverse thread drills ... I am assuming there is not head left on it don't think running with 1 les will be ok tbh
  • Yea just the head snapped off, I don't have a easy out kit but could try the r.t drill bit.

That will surely be cheaper than a new hub!

Remove the other four bolts and the rotor.
Then if it's just the head snapped off, there should be enough of the bolt exposed to let you file some flats and grip it with pliers to unscrew it.

Even if you can't get it out, 5 bolts won't kill you.
