My 2013 Carve has Avid elixir 1 brakes and I am looking to upgrade to more adjustable brakes with better power / feel as I weight around 100KG at over 6ft6. Would the XT m785 disc brakes with IceCool rota's be a good choice ?
I assume the mountings are standard.
Also does changing the QR to 9mm axles make any noticeable difference ?

They will fit straight on, don't use the Avid CPS washers and use the shorter Shimano bolts to the existing mounts, no need to change disc (or Rotor if you must). Axle type is irrelevant to brakes.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

That's great thanks for the advice.0 -
Used both.
XT will be totally different in feel. Much more flexible while the 1s appear on or off!0 -
Thanks, I have ordered them now0
