Felix.London might be keen to see it!

I've gotta €10 discount voucher from these guys :)

That fork sounds truly awful. I'd be tempted to get a used Domain 318 off Pinkbike to tide you over til you can get the Pike, then sell it on. "collapses through the travel"...that sh1t's gonna ruin your summer dude!

Been looking at Pinkbike for options but the only 27.5 forks on there within 100km of Whistler are Fox CTD's of various models - was looking at a Factory FIT CTD Float off a Remedy - listed as new but figured that at 2/3rds of the price of the Pike I'd be better waiting a few weeks more and get the Pike.

forgot you had those new fangled, marginally bigger wheels.

So the Lev Integra is good - easy to use, smooth and a nice positive action on the lever. Considering getting a spare lever for my dropper on the hardtail as the one that came with it is distinctly clunky. Keen to ditch the front mech now to get the lever in a better position to use.

Did a quick loop on it - no serious climbs but the bit of singletrack climbing I did was handled easily with the ratio - feels good actually - shifting is fine into the 42t but I think I put the 16t on in the SRAM setting in error so going to have to whip the cassette off and try again as its not smooth through that gear.

While doing the work I found a couple of rock strikes in the swing arm carbon that made me weep for my baby.

Went up to watch a bit of the EWS yesterday on Stage 4 - gnarly trail I hadn't ridden before - will be doing it before it gets wet as the mess of roots and rocks would be a death trap! Took some pics and vids - will put a slideshow together and chuck them up sometime. I was feet from CG, ACC, Tmo, Graves - they aint all that.

Going to try it out on some more challenging climbs and descents tomorrow to see how we get on.

Bike is definitely getting closer to the build I would have liked from the start. Fork remains the weakness for now.

Proper test today - long climb up to ride stage 4 from the EWS - road climb was easily dealt with, fireroad similarly until it a short very steep section which defeated my ageing pins. But it would have with the old 22t to 36t ratio so dont blame the 1x10.

Chain held on fine for the pretty tech descent with clutch engaged. Going to try something similar with the clutch off as I find the clutch makes the gear changes less smooth particularly onto the One Up. Anyone else experience that?

It does make shifting a little firmer. I wouldn't say that stage 4 is "pretty" tech, though it may not be insane for non bike park trails in whistler.

Latest change - took it to the Fox tent at Crankworx and asked about my fork problems - the tech their (no names, no pack drill as I got the impression this was not totally legit Fox policy) put some oil in the air damper to make the fork ride higher in its travel and allow me to run a little more sag to improve small bump compliance. Fork definitely feels a little more solid, havent tinkered with the pressure yet but feels better.

Downside would be a crash today screwed my thumb up - might be on rest days for a while.

Noticed more scrapes and chips out of the poor carbon frame - very upsetting.

Picked up (very cheap) a temporary replacement for the Fox Float's in the form of a set of Revelation RLT Ti's. Not that I can ride them for 5 weeks but I figure they should be an improvement or at least a change from the fox's. Will get Pikes next spring after battering the Rev's in the winter (snow dependent).

  • Pike RC's in a 160mm travel being picked up today. The Revelations I got were fitted buthavent even been ridden due to my thumb. Not going to get out on the Pikes for a while either but they will be ready and waiting for when my hand is strong enough.
