Hello,
Looking to buy a mountain bike and to cut a long story short i have narrowed it down to 2 options.
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165499
£289... until monday... £599.99 normally. Went and seen 1 in halfords today and it is a very nice bike and with the discount it makes it very appealing.
The other optioni have had given to me is a 2010 carrera vulcan for £140.
I need to act quickly so any advice i would really appreciate.
Thanks,
Ben

Don't be fooled by the discount halfords state. It's make believe in a DFS sofa way. if that's your budget second hand is the way to go.0
-
Neither. Look in Halfords for a proper priced one or decathlon. Or the carrera, but that depends0
-
Thanks for the replies.
Chunkers - Not sure i quite understand your post. The 2 bikes i posted are carrera, 1 of which is from halfords.
Any other suggestions within that budget then guys ? Happy to spend £300 but not a penny more.0 -
Sorry meant the second hand carrera. More deets needed.
Decathlon for your other choice0 -

Thank you.
Basically, I want a bike to get more excercise. Mainly be used to commute from a to b with a bid of off road woody riding thrown in.
I hope this helps ? Really keen to get something purchased!
Thanks,

Well my budget seems to get bigger everyday...
Is it worth spending the extra and getting this instead ? - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165499
Im pretty sure i could buy a bike for circa £150 and it still be more than good enough for what i want it for. But as with most things in my life i want the best i can get within my budget regardless of whether or not i will ever use it to its full potential.
I have been put of the Titan because it would appear that it is now being sold for what its is worth rather than having a keen discount added to it.
Would still be interested to see what your money would be spent on if you had £350.0 -

If you're stretching your budget then you might want to look at this...

Thank you guys!!! That seems a cracking bike... Hydraulic disk and decent forks!
May have the purchase this one instead then.
It seems you canonly collect and the nearest store is 87 miles away0 -
Another twist...
Calibre is out of the window for me im afraid.
So its falls back to the
Carerra Vulcan -http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_810709_langId_-1_categoryId_165499
Or
Cube Aim SL 29 - http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/p/1379 ... -bike-2014
Want to get this knocked on the head and a bike purchased now so let me know your thoughts0 -
Why is the calibre out? I'd drive 87 miles for it over the Vulcan.0

You won't get one though. A normal car will do that for 20ish quid0

Highlighted another reason for me not to travel that distance as i dont know that i would get the bike in when i got there anyway. Think we are moving away from the point a little. If your willing to travel 174 miles to collect a bike... good for you, fair play. Unfortunately its just not an option for me.0 -
Of the two bikes you link to ones a 29er and £500. You might get other suggestions if that's your budget. Its also worth trying a 29er first. I imagine they ride a little different.0

If you have 500 then look at the Carerra kraken.0

You should ask your chauffeur to be less heavy with their right foot when driving the roller0 -
