Just brought a new frame which has carbon forks that have an external diameter of 1 1/8" but I need to purchase a carbon bung for the forks, do I buy it for the external size or the internal diameter (1") ? I have looked over the net but cannot find a concrete answer - Thanks.

Are they full carbon forks or do they have an alloy steerer?

If full carbon then just get a 1 1/8th carbon expander bung. If alloy you need a star fangled nut, again for 1 1/8th".

Ribble and CRC are usually the cheapest. £10-15 will get you all you need.

Thanks for the reply - Yes they are full carbon, Evans were a bit misleading as they were trying to say I needed to match the internal diameter (1") not the external which confused me and seemed wrong. So I will order an 1 1/8" one.

The internal diameters can vary depending on how the steerers are made - but most bungs will fit most steerers. Very occasionally you can get unlucky and it's too tight to fit.
