Quick question about chain length

Hi all,

Just replaced my chain (9 spd), old was Sram and new KMC. There is a very slight difference between the link size, spread over an almost full length the chain would either be half a link smaller then the one I took off or half a link bigger.

I went with the smaller and all gears seem to work ok, not gone for a ride not yet but just wondered if there was a rule in this situations if I should of gone shorter/longer?

Thanks

Your old chain has stretched, if it was correct before use the same number of links.

Best to check it is right though, so big chainring to big sprocket missing out the rear mech and add 2 links.

There is only one pitch (length for each link) used, your old chain was worn (called stretched even though none of the metall has actually stretched!)
