Crankset replacement

I'm wanting to replace my crankset due to a crank arm working loose on the taper and a bent chainring, I'm also wanting to change to an external bottom bracket at the same time. I am currently running an 8 speed cassette with a Truvativ Fived triple ring crankset (42,32,22t) and have found 8 speed cranksets extremely difficult to come across. I have searched forums to distinguish whether a 9 speed crankset will work with my 8 speed cassette but answers vary. Specifically I am wanting to swap to these e.Thirteen cranks:

Does anyone know if they would be compatible and if I'd have any problems? Thanks

Well you will also need to get a suitable BB.
You will also need to get the frame faced at a decent LBS.
But otherwise if you select the correct one for your frame the will work with the rest of your stuff."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

For the cost of that crankset you could almost upgrade to 10 speed.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Pretty close, add in £50 on top of that crankset and BB and you've got a full 10 speed setup, including brakes.
