Stem looks a little long but other than that, very nice! :) Hoping to get one myself later in the year, slightly burlier and cheaper build though!

surprised at the rev forks considering the rest of the build. how come you didn't get pikes?

    Too much travel?
A pike 27.5 is available in 150mm shortest

    The 5010 runs a 130mm - 140mm Fork with the 125mm rear

    What he said :-).

And, I have pikes specced on my incoming nomad, so no need really. Might pop them on for a mess about though.

The Revelations will be fine in most situations anyway.. They'd only really flex if you took it through nasty rock gardens or DH track terrain.. But that's what the Nomad is for

Biggest problem you'll have is knowing which bike to use

Pikes can be fairly easily dropped to 140mm if you use a different air spring shaft, the 26/150mm or 29/120mm shaft will work. Apparently you can also cut that one down so you get a 130mm Pike.

I didn't know you could adjust the travel

But still.. 35mm stantions on a 130mm fork is a bit overkill

You have to change the whole air shaft, it looks like a relatively easy job but pretty time consuming. I wouldn't say its overkill at all really, it's a pretty light fork and the charger damper is better than most, so a lot of bikes could benefit from it

    Very nice.

I have to say if I had a Solo instead of my Bronson I'd definitely have a Nomad on order. I wish I actually have a Solo now just so I could justify a Nomad lol.

Very nice indeed, love the stealthy looks.

Is 70mm not a perfectly acceptable length for a trail bike? Not having a pop, just curious (it's what I have on mine) :D

Tbh I didn't look at the spec! I looked longer than a 70mm imo. I also run a 70mm on my Ibis but ideally I'd run a 50mm stem like I have on the Cotic. Don't know whether it's just the angle but the whole bike looks very tall and short, which is odd cos the one I rode looked better proportioned in reality.

It's a bit taller than normal due to the extra 10mm travel in the fork over the fox option, plus the crap camera probably doesn't help.

nothing wrong with 70mm if that's comfortable -

I'm guessing he has a 70mm due to the shorter top tube on a Santa Cruise

I'm running a 70mm stem on my Blur and it feels spot on for me, as long as you feel comfortable its all good :D

    Nice bike btw 8)

I must admit I didn't look at the spec and thought it was a 90mm at first sight

The 5010 is a super versatile bike, can be built super light or a little burlier :)

Very easy job, did it on my revs, first time I'd pulled a set of forks apart myself, probably an hour and a half, but would of been quicker if I'd of worked on a set of forks before.

So, 5 (and a bit) years on, there have been a few upgrades. more because tech has moved on from when I bought it.)

Fork is now a Pike, with 140mm travel, much stiffer than the Revelation it replaced, and a better damper
Reverb upped from 125mm to 170mm, and has a 1x lever, off the Pivot
XX1 is now XX1 eagle (taken off my Pivot)
Stem is now an Enve, for no reason other than its bling AF, a bit lighter, and was a secondhand, unused bargain.
Grips now now Vans sole pattern ODI lock ons, bit wider than the hopes they replaced.
Will be putting 203mm rotors on shortly, because you can't have too much brake. (i have them spare off another bike, and these rotors are getting a bit second hand)
Also got a Cane Creek shock that needs a service that will go back on when i get round to it

This bike is totally perfect. it climbs like a goat and descents like a bike with way more travel than the 125mm suggests. Ive ridden loads of bike since I got this, and absolutely nothing gets near it for all round performance. I'll be buried with this bike

Ha! Hadn't even thought about that! Grey to match the DT/rim logos, or green to match the frame highlights? Or just destickered?

£15 from invisiframe, seem pretty durable. Worst bit, by far, was picking the old ones off, my fingernails are shredded from before I got the technique down... (start low and pull up FTW)

So, you know how i said i was going to beef up the brakes, & swap out the shock?

    Well, thats happened...

    48599479512_158581a401_k.jpg
(please excuse the garden, we've just moved in...)

some other unplanned, but totally necessary upgrades happened too

King hubs. I had wanted to build with these originally, however at the time, King didn't make an XD driver ('we don't do flash in the pan standards', was their response when asked at the time  ) and some came up in great nick ant a great price on eBay, so on they went.

    48599338321_18bc132a16_k.jpg

    48599478167_f28b0b8562_k.jpg

Then, having fitted AXS to my Pivot, I'm done with cable shifting where possible, so have just been waiting for the 'essential' upgrade kit to be released. That arrived this morning, and within half an hour, was all set up and working, super easy.

the reason for the reverb was so i can use the left controller for the gears, to match the shifters on my Deviate (and subsequently, my Pivot) It helps that its a big improvement over the standard, so much quicker, no effort and has the vent valve to prevent any sag.

    48599479252_1c2f9a42a2_k.jpg

So, what has RRP £2.5K worth of upgrades done to the weight an already bling bike? Just over a pound added from the spec in the OP  (though a lot of that will be due to a change in tyres). That's diminishing returns folks...

That said, its even more perfect than it was before :D
