Will MTB spd shoes fit road clipless pedals?

Morning,

Might be a silly question but I've been using my MTB pedals and spd's on my road bike for months but sick of changing the pedals back to my MTB.

So I'm going to buy some pedals for the road bike that I can leave on. Can you buy road specific pedals that my MTB spd shoes will flip into or not?!

Thanks in advance, J.
I love the sound my tyres make on dusty single track!

'Road' pedals will be SPD-SL which SPD cleats will not work with. Just get whatever SPD pedals you like for your road bike. There are many to choose from - double sided, single sided, with & without platforms.

Shimano A530, or Pd-A520 should meet your requirements
    Felt AR4
    Planet X Pro Carbon 105
MTB Kona Kikapu Deluxe with a few upgrades!!
  • Very different cleats. Just get some SPDs for the road bike. The a530 and a600 'touring' pedals are the closest in spec (single-sided, wide platform), but the double-sided ones are perfectly good.

I would recommend double-sided SPD M540 as they are good and I use them on road bikes. I just find double-sided easy as no need to even look down at pedal to clip-in.

Personally I would chose the M520 over the M540. They're cheaper and just as good (albeit slightly heavier).
