Morning All

I have just bought these pedals off the bay of flees

Didn't pay a lot so not a massive issue as im sure I can swap the cleats with someone somewhere

From what I can See the pedals are X2 and the Cleats are for Zeros, however the previous owner assures me they work perfectly even though the Speedplay website specifically says they are not compatible

Am I wrongly identifying them or do you think they will work ok, im loath to fit them to the bike and have them fail to release at a main road junction......

Many thanks

    not worth the risk

you can probably clip in/out due to the body size being same/similar, but the retention spring system is completely different, one day they might unclip or be unable to unclip at a critical moment and you end up injured/dead

Thanks for that. Am I correct with my identification?

The pedals don't look like my Zeros, as they don't have the four indentations. The cleats are Zeros as far as i can tell.

He said they were X2s, not Zeros, which is probably correct. Or they could be X1s, not sure of the precise differences.

yes you are, those are standard zero cleats and x/2 pedals - the tan body colour identifies them as x/2, this is the version with the stainless steel spindle

the x series has free float, the zero series you can adjust, so which to keep depends on which type you prefer

it's worth injecting some fresh grease in the pedals if you keep them

J3w3ll3r, I've always been curious as to whether the zero cleats would work at all with the X pedals. If you try this setup could you please post your findings here. Thanks.
