Paracycling Worlds 2014 - Pokerface
As not everyone is on twitter just thought i would flag our very own Pokeface's achievements at the Paracycling Worlds in Mexico.
Overnight he raced in the individual pursuit - broke the WR by 2 seconds but came away with silver as the other guy beat it by 5 seconds. Tweets below:
2 seconds under World Record. But the other guy went 5 secs under! Dedicate this medal to my coach @NeillDelahaye & girlfriend @SusieSueMoss
Considering I tried to walk away from track racing twice in the last 3 months due to infections & injury, today's medal is that much sweeter

Well done Pokerface.
Since this thread has been started, I'm now able blow my own trumpet.
I now have 2 world champion nieces.
Following Becky's double rainbow of last year, big Sister Rachel won the kilo tandem gold, knocking
almost 3 seconds off the world record, with her 18YO partner, Sophie Thornhill.
BBC breakfast tv have shown the medal ceremony and short interview.

The trust you must have with each other to that must be huge. I can't imagine going at those speeds without being able to see what's happening especially in the match sprint!0

Rachel and Sophie have just become double world champions.
Took the sprint title tonight.
Dame Sarah Storey took the inaugural women's scratch earlier.
The men are odds on to take the sprint title too."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

Just found this thread - thanks to all!
The track was blazingly fast, especially in the afternoon sessions when the temperatures got over 40 degrees! And the altitude also makes it perhaps the fastest track in the world.
Pleased with my effort and the gap to first place is getting narrower. Might have won with the 'perfect' ride - but still few years left to get it right before Rio!
We won't see many of the new World Records broken now for many many years to come.0
