A simple hello from a longtime lurker :)

It was pointed out that I had my first post in ~7 years of lurking on this forum, so it's probably an appropriate time to actually say hello..
I've been biking for about 7 years at this stage. My first real bike in nearly 15 years I got to build up fitness after a serious illness, so I bought myself a Carrera Fury from the local Halfords in Limerick. I cycled that for a few years, then bought a secondhand '05 Reign and gave the Fury to the (now ex-) girlfriend. That bike got nicked off the roof of my car one evening, to be replaced with a '09 Reign X1. That's my current XC bike but with a strong build as I'm about 95kg and I used to be hard enough on equipment.
I also own a Trek Madone 4.5 that I got through the workplace Bike-to-Work scheme, that I get out a bit on but not as much as I probably should, maybe 600km in a year and a half. There's a cheapie singlespeed commuter bike in my kitchen as well that I can leave locked up overnight in the University without too much worry.
As of this evening, I've pulled the trigger on a secondhand Santa Cruz V10.4 downhill bike. I've started to get fast enough on the xc trails and I'm really liking the fast descents that I did during last year's UL mountain bike club trip to Les Gets. I did feel that I wanted more squish than I had on the ReignX, and it was affecting my confidence, and that's why I went for this DH rig. I've to invest in a neckbrace and better body armour than I have already, as my armguards are being used instead for my whitewater kayaking.
I've come late enough to the mountain bike scene, I'm now 36 and I've got so much to learn yet, but I'm having a lot of fun with it. Climbing isn't my forte but I will do it for the fun with sweeping level crosscountry and fast descending.
