not exactly MTB, but still governed by british cycling (if racing in the UK)

    Not really. The tour de homo is under UCI rules, its BC who banned them and then immediately un banned them for practice a couple weeks ago.
    Cameras have been banned in racing (not practice) for years by BC & UCI but event organisers have always been able to apply to the ruling authority for exceptions like this.

    but doesn't BC come under the UCI or is it totally separate?

    personally I think what Cookson suggested would be good, an F1 style stats graphic on rider output speed etc would make the viewing even more involving I don't ride road bikes but I do love the tour and watch it with out fail every year and think this type in information a great idea, imagine the same in DH....."wow did he really hit that at that speed" etc etc....it certainly would make things more interesting, as would on-board live cams..
