Hi All

Looking at some XC SPD pedals think I would prefer something with a bit of a platform for the tricky bits/me wimping out bits.

What would you recommend I have been looking at these

But any other recommendations would be fantastic.

Don't bother with platforms unless doing AM type stuff, the purchase is poor so you have to clip in to pedal anyway, M520, 540, deore or whatever to budget!

  • They are fine , but as rookie says you do need to be clipped in. For a quick trip to shops you can wear flip flops though. ( I have )

    Get these - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shim ... -prod67249

Super reliable, cheap as cheaps and the extra platform helps when clipping in and adds a little protection to the mechanism. Also the slightly larger platform is great for those moments where you want to rest your foot on the pedal, I've done a few times on the super steep secret trails we have locally and had no problems at all.
