chain advice

I've had my new Bianchi a week now, whilst cleaning and relubing the chain I noticed the chain is fitted with a quick link.
is it normal for original chains to have one fitted? I didn't think it was.
Its a tigra group set.

Not normal but it happens. My Charge has one fitted but it's a powerlock so not easy to remove. I prefer the kmc links as even the 10 speed link is removable.

If it's a shimano chain, then not really, no.

If it's a KMC, then yes.

I think all the links have ps3 stamped on them. Should I question Evans on it?

If its a via nirone then they always have missing links on kmc chains (shimano groupset)

Better to have a missing link than having to break the chain and fit a pin a la shimano cos thats just a pain every time you want to remove it to clean it.

Thanks Smoggysteve, it is a via nirone. How many times can the link be opened and closed before needing to be replaced and whats the best way to open it?

Good idea. As far as opwning and closing. I have never known one to break after dozens of times fastening unfastening. They can be undone by hand but its a messy job if your chains not completely clean.

Borrowed a pair of those pliers to remove and clean my chain over the weekend. So easy it felt like cheating.
