When buying bib shorts do you buy the right size for your girth or your height? I'm a skinny (by normal standards) 6'2" with a 32" waist. Should I go XL for my height, M for my waist or L for the compromise?
Tempted to try XL as Merlin have some discounted Lusso in XL.

You can either go for the correct waist size and get the skimpy look or you go for the correct height and go for the baggy look.....suppose it comes down to whichever looks least daft

Believe me both will look daft, I'm under no illusions.
I don't normally do lycra but I'm thinking as I'm doing the Ride London thing and a few longer rides I should embrace my inner mamil purely for comfort. Also on the L2B off road last year I got stomach cramp after lunch and I was thinking the waistband of my baggies may have aggravated that.
Or should I forget about size and just buy the ones with a green bit to match my bike?

  • I'm 6'2" with a 34" waist (around 13 stone) and generally take XL in bibs.

sounds like youre thinner than me so be aware that with certain brands (usually italian) larger sizes correspond simply to being taller because they think everyone is protour thin.

all of my shorts fit ok but are a little shorter in the leg than i would like (if they are hairy) - rapha do shorts in ordinary and longer length if you ride a pinarello and drive a bmw

    and play golf

    ok im done.

No Pinarello, BMW or golf for me, but I'll bare the rest in mind.
Arran I don't wear that any more as it clashes with my green bike.

I've got similar dimensions and would agree, I always check the size guides just to be safe though :)

If it's Assos shorts you go entirely by height. The right fit is crucial or the pad is in the wrong place.
