Unable to upload attachment to post

Hi, struggling to upload a word file to a post, have tried a few ways but it either says docx not allowed or that the file is too big to upload :? its only 1mb so not massive! Any ideas?

    Its too large a file, ideally it should be under 100kb, but AFAIK it only allows image files not doc or docx files,
