Hi all,
Back on my bike after a couple of years away, from riding and indeed here. it's great. I think it may be a mid life crisis but I want some white tyres. I don't do anything to Severe, mainly forest tracks and some technical, red routes etc. And some travel on road to get to the woods. Not major stuff though so my wtb allterrainasaurus are great. I want something in white that are similar all rounders to match the color scheme lol.
Please advise

God gave us black tyres to ride on dirt for a reason.
You can get white ones but they look like crap after one ride.
If you are buying them purely for cosmetic reasons just consider whether its a good idea to buy white tyres and then mash them in to the dirt and filthy tarmac.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Not only that, but I read somewhere that to make them white the rubber compund has to be altered, which makes it less grippy. This may be an urban myth - I can neither confirm or deny, as I think white tyres look awful, frankly.0
-
Maybe it's not a great idea after all then lol. They would look good on mine though. White forks, pedals and seat and dark blue frame0
-
I have a set of white rocket rons, really good tyres but bloody rare. PM me if you're interested.0
-
What are rocket rons like on tarmac? They look ideal for off road but hard work on the pavement. Unfortunately I need to sacrifice a bit of grip for my tarmac journeys0

800g for the 1.9s, a full kilo for the 2.1.
They must be made of lead.I don't do smileys.

They are wire bead though. I've still got the original wire bead 2.1 Tioga XCs on my Kraken (that will be changing soon), and I read in one test of the bike that they weigh in at around a kilo each.0 -
I had white tyres on my road bike and it looked ghey so they will look seriously ghey on a mountain bike"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

They look the bollox, are cheap and the tread pattern looks just like the sort of tyre that i like (fast rolling XC tyre)0 -
The panracer fire xc pro look awesome. Can't see the white version though. Saying this, the blue version are very smart looking. I will look into these I think0

anyone tried these: http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/TYGEASAGFO/ ... lding-tyre0

Sorry, I just realised my link never got copied into my post, i have added it in now.
Those Geax tyres are an absolute steal at that price. Look at the originial price, £38!
I would buy them if i were looking for a full white tyre. They are light at 640g, a proper bargain, and the tread pattern looks good for dry trail riding.
Ive also heard good stuff about that brand.0 -
Wonder how many they sold at the £38 price - Notice this part?:
Foldable
Colour : Black
Weight : 640g0 -
I must admit, I am swayed more towards the blue panracers now0
-
You may aswell. Loads of people swear by them. And i personally think they would look better than a full white.
Chunkers, at £38 not many i reckon. Most people would get a Maxxis Schwalbe or Continental tyre for that money for sure.
Is 640g heavy for a tyre?0 -

I just know how shite they ended up looking on my road bike so I'd never want to put them on my BFe"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

It wasn't the colour of the tyres causing that...0 -
