Lose bottle cage bosses

Hi. just fitting a new bottle cage and noticed when the screw got half way in the rivet became lose in its housing. Is this repairable or will it result in a new frame.?

They are just like pop rivets and just need resetting, easy to do with the correct tool and the bolts out.

If they don't have a nutsert tool, i.e. the thing to tighten the threaded inserts there are a couple of options.

Hi forgot to mention guys the offending screw is stuck in the frame riv nut.

How about carefully drilling the screw out first?

Hi arran77. Considering the bike is still under warranty I will see if the issue is covered. They will probably lay the blame on me an accuse me of over tightening even though I only managed to screw the thread half way before it came lose

They'll blame you for cross threading it then....

It's not expensive. My LBS did all 4 of mine, 3 loose and one jammed screw. I think it was £24.

Cheers Colinthecop. Your probably not far off with your assumption. i'll just stand my ground and deny deny deny. As long as it's a relatively easy and not so expensive I will be happy.
