Been hearing that the Tour won't now be going up Cragg Vale, but will instead be rerouted from Hebden Bridge via Todmorden to Littleboro, then climbing Blackstone Edge to then descend into Ripponden as planned. Might be a few dissapointed people on the Mytholmroyd side if this is true.

Surely Yorkshire wouldn't be happy with the extended detour into Lancashire?

Few weeks ago did the climb from Littleborough to Blackstone Edge and wondered why the climb had been totally resurfaced and to a pretty good standard - maybe it needed doing anyway. Once back into Yorkshire it was back to bumpy reality

Blackstone Edge definitely needed resurfacing, but then you could say that about a lot of roads at the moment! Was up there this morning and the top of Cragg Vale has also been resurfaced and there was plenty of markings on the rest of the road indicating areas that need filling. Interestingly Rochdale had big signs up saying they're welcoming the Tour on Stage 2, perhaps they wanted a slice of the action so stumped up some funds to get it to Littleborough...

Interesting - was planning on parking in L'boro and cycling up Blackstone Edge to watch them come up Cragg Vale : perhaps I won't need to bother !!

Cragg Vale might be 'the longest climb in England' but it's not exactly hard - Blackstone Edge might be more of a leg-stinger if someone wants to go off the front
