frozen free hub

I bought some wheels off ebay. they came off a spesh allez, the guy ran them for a little while and upgraded.
They look little used, true, well tensioned etc. no reason to think they've been abused.
But the freehub isn't moving. I've removed the skewer and cassette, but neither will the axle lock nut undo, too stiff.
any ideas???
thanks

How stiff is "too stiff"? I've had to hold the tool/allen key/whatever it was in a vice, and turn the entire wheel with pretty much all my strength.
At least I think that's what I ended up doing. It's too far back to remember precisely, but suffice it to say it was really, really tight!Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.0 -
Freehub isn't moving....in which direction? Not freewheeling I assume?
2 17mm spanners will sort the locknut, MTFU.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Depends which hubs ...
On my Allez stock wheels the nuts remove the axle but not the freehub - you need an allen key inside to undo the fastening for the freehub.0 -
