Hi guys

I got mudguards for the above and put the screws in a safe place until required, unfortunately I cannot remember where.

My local shop is having difficulty getting a new set, any ideas would be appreciated.

cheers

Pete

    Thanks rafletcher

The screws that go into the frame have a sort of flattened end with a hole to take the screw that goes through the guard wire bit.

Something like this would probably do the trick http://www.conrad-electronic.co.uk/ce/en/product/828088/M4-x-15-mm-Galvanised-Steel-Lifting-Eye-Bolts-50-pcs (I can't remember whether the thread in the frame is M4 or M5 so please check). You might be able to find them in B&Q.

And, if you're fitting full SKS mudguards you'll also want a half-inch spacer and a longer bolt to fix the rear guard at the bottom bracket.

It's a bit poor of Trek not to be able to supply spares for something that is so obviously going to get mislaid.

Thanks stanthomas, they look just the job. The thread in the frame is M5.

I agree about the poor service from Trek, I cant be the only silly old duffer that looses things, its not as though they would take up much room in stock.

These eye bolts are even closer to the Trek original http://www.s3i.co.uk/M5-Threaded-Eye-Stud.html.
