I'm on borrowed time with a nasty slash on my front tubular. I have a pre-glued (last summer) spare ready to go. Whats a good process for refitting the spare? Any need to completely clean the rim or should i just apply a single layer of glue and fit the spare?

Thanks in advance.

If you can wait 48 hours, clean and dry first

if you glued the spare tub last year, the glue may have gone very dry, in which case it wil not make a good bond... inflate the tub a bit and rub the base tape, see if you get glue 'dust', if you do, give the base tape a going over with a stiff brush to remove the dry glue, then give it a fresh coat and let it dry

otherwise, if the rim glue is ok, no huge lumps/voids, you can just give it a new coat, wait a few mins and mount the tub
