Hi,

I've got 5 bikes that I'd like to store neatly on the wall of my garage. I'd like to also lock the bikes, either collectively or individually, to help prevent theft incase of a break in.

Can anyone recommend something? I guess it will either be one larger rack or 5 smaller brackets?

Suggestions appreciated!

Thanks.

How good are the walls? Mine has breeze blocks that fall apart when I drill into them and so even if I could get something strong enough to hold the bikes, it wouldn't be strong enough to hold a chain under force from a crow bar. For me I'd have to put a floor to ceiling rack (like Topeak dual) but then would put security anchors into something concrete like floor, which I know isn't ideal.

There are a number of bike racks available, or large hooks taped with sponges drilled to the wall, all depends how hard bearing your walls are,
I then use a number of chain's and locks (oxford insurance approved) that go around the bikes, ground anchors, roof joists, workbench and wheel of the car, Its an absolute nuisance of a job with the keys but hey ho, keeps them off the dining table and worktop

I use an old car boot bike rack to hold 2 of mine - cost nothing as I already had it.
Can be a bit of an arse if you always want the inside bike though ;)

This thread I started might be useful.

And I also ordered 2 of these as posted on the bargains thread for a truly ridiculous £9 each, other places are asking £35!:

I would reccommend individual brackets as it means you can tailor spacings and heights to maximise your space.
